AWHL presents at the Women in Rural Health Leadership Conference

Rural Health Pro’s inaugural Women in Rural Health Leadership Conference took place on Thursday 20 June at the Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel in “a flurry of shared experiences and empowered voices”. AWHL Chief Investigator Prof Helena Teede and Senior Research Fellow and Translation Lead Dr Belinda Garth were part of the action presenting the opening address, chairing numerous panels and facilitating a post-Conference workshop. “The Conference discussed the unique challenges and opportunities for female leaders in the rural health space. The event mixed theory with practical leadership development and inspirational stories - as well as networking opportunities.”

Professor Teede’s presentation was incredibly inspiring and encouraged delegates to stop self-doubt and pick up others when they do the same. She called on the people in attendance to own their qualifications, saying “ignoring them is doing a disservice to yourself and others” and stressed the importance of choosing the right mentor.
